Flap...I'm still puzzled why you sent this article...This was on Clinton's watch...note date, also date of the yearlong study....

Note that the article says: ..."few in Washington seem to know or care...."

Don't you think it odd that our Federal Government, which is charged to "provide for the common defense" (US Constitution)....and yet, seemingly the best the Clinton administration could do in the last 8 years, is, according to this article, build a system that, again according to the article, will fail.

If you were running the Government, what would your solution be?

>>>>>>>>>>>>> Headline: Missile Defense System Won't Work
By David Wright and Theodore Postol
MIT scientists (Article appeared in 5-11-00 Boston Globe)

The United States is on the verge of deploying a national missile defense system intended to shoot down long-range missiles. The Clinton administration is scheduled to decide this fall whether to give the green light to a system that is expected to cost more than $60 billion, sour relations with Russia and China, and block deep cuts in nuclear arsenals.

But the real scandal is that the defense being developed won't work - and few in Washington seem to know or care.
