Allegations that missile defense systems won't work have been made since the idea to make them was conceived - it's disinformation designed to bamboozle at least some of the population in the hope that they will oppose it, possibly causing the plans to be dropped, or at least delayed.

Consider the source.

Let's think this through a little bit. The plan is to spend $1 megabillion-plus for a Star Wars ABM system that probably won't work, and if it does, likely can be effectively countered by the proverbial "couple of guys in a rowboat." (Does the term "Maginot Line" ring a bell?") We already have plenty of deterrents to keep hostile countries from sending nuclear missiles our way. Each U.S. missile-carrying sub at present has more firepower than all the bombs dropped in WWII. The Cold War has ended; we won. We now have the money and time to start tackling some of the serious social problems facing our society.
