It is unimportant whether Ashcroft will uphold the laws of the US. What's important is
that he is:

Bush violates the United States Constitution when he spends tax-payer dollars to support religious institutions.

The same junta that installed Bush as Thief of State will interpret his ability to pour the federal revenues into the preacher's pocket.
