Lets see if I understand this correctly. It is improper to use federal funds for abortion because that offend certain persons religious values. However, It is proper to use federal funds to fund the activities of certain "faith based" organizations even though that would offend the religious values of persons of other faiths. Do I understand that correctly?

Bush fell in love with the idea of promoting God to Texas prisoners when he saw what Charles Colson was up to. Charles Colson was in the Nixon administration, but Colson was sentenced to prison for his participation in the Nixon sponsored breakin of the Democratic headquarters at the Watergate complex in Washington, DC. Nixon later resigned as President but Colson and a few others went to prison " In Texas, then-Gov. Bush enthusiastically endorsed the prison fellowship program founded by former Nixon aide Charles Colson. Inmates spend hours a day reading the Bible, singing and praying. "The president believes the FAITH element is indispensable to the success of these programs." latimes.com Of course, the right-wing Christian Coalition, is delighted with this idea as are many other regligious groups.
