Steve,

re: "Something is rotten in Denmark!

What is wrong with this picture?

So I take it that customers can now call up SNDK and get orders filled the same days because there are $34 million dollars worth of flash cards just sitting around the SNDK warehouse collecting dust!

Am I the only one here?"

I've said from there start that things didn't appear to add up.

Are you suggesting that SanDisk could have a manufacturing capacity problem? That they had the orders but couldn't ship, and used the marketplace as an excuse? That doesn't fit with the inventory numbers.

Or are you suggesting that they pumped up the expectations beyond reality?

What are you suggesting?

John

Steve,

I see what you are getting at.

Failure to renew an order would effect Q1 2001 not Q4 2000.
Is it order cancellations that are the problem?

Maybe someone cancelled an order late in the quarter that was completely unexpected?
Maybe Kodak or another OEM was double ordering all along, so the sting smarts twice as much.

Just guessing.

Steve, sales to Telecom market were down 30% in the 3rd quarter(?).

Did the conference call give any guidance on this segment of the market for the 4th quarter?

I suspect your problem OEMs are located at Cisco and Lucent and maybe Nortel.

Cisco, recently announced a sole source flash contract with AMD if I recall correctly.

I find Eli's comments are often out-of-line with the controlling legal authorities (10K's and 10Q's) especially in regards to the competition.

Also, another VP has left the company in last quarter. Was he up to some shenanigans and forced out?

Sandisk ran a rebate promo back in the early August. They did not meet the required dates in returning those rebate checks. They timed mailing them so that customers would cash them in 2001. This is either fraud or incompetence.

The biggest outrage was that interview Eli gave a couple weeks before the conference call where he misled listeners to think that analysts do not understand his market.

How did the ML analyst get the scoop?

SD Card is hype as far as I am concerned.

Set Top Boxes with SNDK products are HYPE!

Ranting. Denmark Stanks!
