Hey AD, don't worry, I check facts too, especially if they involve stocks I own (or want to).

There's a press release on the AMAT web site concerning missing the quarter's revenue target; no mystery there. Nothing posted there yet about salary actions or contractor layoffs, etc. They're a bit more closed-mouth about HR activities anyways, but certainly their actions on the contractor side can be verified from the temporary worker agencies AMAT uses; West Valley comes to mind.

The other details were announced via internal mechanisms such as all-hands meetings. Supposedly not a public venue, but once it's announced at that level, no management team expects every worker to say nothing about the action; quite the contrary, they'd prefer that it be seen as "no big deal" in the community, even though we all know otherwise. Great Kabuki theater, eh? <grin>

I guess for some of the details, you'd actually have to drink a beer with some of you AMAT friends. You DO have AMAT friends, yes? If not, I could refer, for the appropriate fee....
