<<Did you ever do anything with your house?>>

No. I had a heart-to-heart with the wife, we decided not to. We got a 15 yr 7.0% fixed mortgage in '94, the thing's fairly close to being paid off. At least we won't have to pull up a box next to Luc when the $hit hits the fan...

As far as refinancing goes, watch the 10 years. I think they won't go down much further, but if you can't get a rate differential of 2% or so, its usually not worth refinancing (especially if there's a chance you might be moving within 2-3 years).

Here is a site with several different calculators for mortgages and refinancing - what I like about these calculators is that they let you input your tax rate and your savings rate, which make a big difference when you are calculating whether you will save money and how much.

Quicken has a calculator to let you see how much you'd save under Bush's proposed tax plan.
