Does anyone understand why the Fed insists on announcing its rate-decisions during market-hours, knowing that whatever it says will have an unpredictably disruptive effect on trading? Seems that it would be a lot "fairer" to investors, and better for market stability, if the Fed held off on such pronouncements until later in the day (yeah, I know it'd still affect after-hours trading -- but at least that's a relatively small proportion of overall market activity)...

Just couldn't help wondering, as I sit here waiting and trying to decide what (if anything) to do myself in anticipation of today's announcement...
