Ted, Who said China is our ally? I am saying that China is more in love with capitalism than ideology. I hope that the current leadership doesn't do something silly before they are replaced with a new generation, hopefully part of the group in love with capitalism. I am sick of US $$$ going into military toys. Most of the money goes to salaries and spending unrelated to military readiness. I think the direction should be to downsize the numbers of active duty soldiers (and administrative overhead) and improve mobility and readiness, as well as reduce the number of babysitting missions. Why this ongoing need to be paranoid? Especially when the world has been the most peaceful in many decades or even centuries. Things where mostly pretty peaceful for the US in between WWI and WWII. We cut our military in size and reduced its readiness. We paid the price early in WWII. We paid a similar price early in Korea. Now it would take longer to rebuild if we had to and we might have less time to respond should a new threat or crisis arrises. I'm not saying we should be paranoid, just prepared. Tim
