h.g.,

or another explanation: their (PIA traders) ego is so well managed, controlled and supressed for and during trading that balance is getting restored in day-to-day life and communication... :)
That was my impression from couple of those I had a chance to communicate with.

h.g.,

I'm glad we are on the same wavelength. :-)

>>"but the redirect or channeling is a transformation of the energy."<<

Yes, it is. Our mind is a very powerful being and if left untamed can set off a chain of negative energy that could not only disrupt our own life but others as well. We are only tapping 10% of the potential of our mind. Imagine if we have the other 90% and still not be able to control it? Now, that will be scary. Our ability to redirect our thought (or transforming our thought energy) is all within us as long as we have the will and intent to do so.

What is "will" and "intent"?

I say it is a singular focus of high energy with the purpose of satisfying a need.

There is a need for a trader to remain calm and steady while trading... from finding the setup to executing and closing the trade. If you focus on that need to be calm and steady, your mind will find the energy to redirect your thought process into a more productive and positive thought process. The key ingredient in this equation is the "focus".

Anyone try this exercise before?

Tie a string to a metal screw (or anything that is a little heavy). Hold the end of the string like you are holding a pendulum. Now, focus your mind and imagine the pendulum spinning around clockwise without moving your hand or finger. You will be surprised when the pendulum start to spin around clockwise. Now, while spinning clockwise, focus your mind and imagine the pendulum change direction and move up and down in a straight line. Whoa! the pendulum is moving up and down. Focus and imagine it turns counterclockwise...

Such is the power of focus. In trading, your attention is constantly bombarded by the market dynamic. Thus, by a singular focus (with high energy) on your need to be calm and steady, you will not only cultivate the habit of redirecting your thought to a positive thought process, you will also begin to find other way to help you achieve that level of calmness.

When I was losing money left and right in my early trading journey, I realized that my major weakness was my inability to remain calm and steady while trading. So, I decided to dedicate my focus on finding way to achieve calmness. Naturally, the search led me to meditation and internal martial arts. From there, my continuing focus allow me to fortify my discipline to practice my Tai Chi daily. All of this effort of achieving calmness come from my intent.

Once I established my foundation of calmness from meditation and Tai Chi, redirecting my thought process became not so difficult. While fear and greed still rule from time to time, my ability to redirect negative thought helps "dissipate" (this one for you, h.g. <g>) these emotions to manageable level.

From then on, I was able to cut my losses quickly. I was able to walk away from a missed trade that took off without me. Even when I got too greedy, I was able to reclaim myself and dumped the trade before it destroyed me.

As Chris and Threei pointed out, honesty with yourself is important while trading. And when you are calm and steady, honesty become second nature.

>>"How do the PIA traders exist? In my opinion that IS from very strong over-programming. The Ego is in total control and there is no humility or compassion for self, let alone others. Just an opinion."<<

I concur. IMO, I believe that the PIA trader is a byproduct of brute force. I'm assuming that PIA means "pain in the a**. Please correct me if I'm wrong. You practically force yourself to behave in a nonemotional way to trade. This brute force, IMO, can only come from certain personality trait; thus, not everyone can use brute force and become a PIA trader. You have to have a strong stomach and a strong ego to go along with this brute force. Unfortunately, I don't believe it is something you can simply turn on and off. Even when these PIAs balance their life with other activities, they are still PIA regardless. Why else do you call them PIA to begin with? <g>

There are many different roads we can travel to arrive at the same destination. We must look within ourselves to find the way that best fit us. If you are at the point where you are trying to find out which road to travel, then you have already arrived at the level of self-awareness that may start you off in the right direction to become a successful trader.

Good luck to all!

Cheers!
