Andreas-- you are on the right track. It is a great contract. Once more info is available a better idea of how much rev can be produced can be made. The USPS has about 850K employees... all will not be able to make such a perchase as contractors, some relief personal, etc are not 'career' employees. Granted the majority are but even 200K + / - will make a difference. In many areas of the country the USPS is considered as paying decent wages so how many are in the mkt or are wanting to upgrade is a good question. Employees have known the program was in the making since Nov and some certainly have held off purchasing... "BILLIONS" I too question even as a total for both suppliers taking into consideration these are to be priced below mkt. Since they will be ordered direct the margins may still be there but like you I have more questions than answers...

Andreas, I believe that there will be significant income from the internet access, incentives for software, hardware, and deals sent to the employees via e-mail to drive sales. Compaq will be running the post office's private mail system which will include service and maintenance. Each of these customers that buy the pc become a potential customer for any links used while surfing and Compaq should leverage every area to maximize exposure and return for the many sources of potential income. hio
