"..."Present speed": there are inherent problems with measuring the "present speed" of the market bars, it's a matter of physics..."

Exactly!!!! This was the vexing thing for many years while contemplating this idea. Since the market never truly begins or ends, where do we start? Of course, with a car, we know that it goes from zero to 60 seconds in whatever time, but in the market, how do we define "zero"? That was the big problem, until I perfected my swing charts a few years ago.

My proposal is to use the pivot where a swing reverses as "zero", and then measure the directional move in the direction of the swing. I will be measuring directional movement upon the reversal of a , starting at the pivot point on the chart.

For example, in this chart of COMS, on the DownSwing to the December lows, I always know the price at which the DownSwing reverses, so when it finally did, I will take that swing low as zero, and then measure the *directional* move to the upside, and plot this as speed:

I'm interested in getting on board a move with thrust, so that's why I am interested in the amount of directional move, rather than just the absolute move. I will let you know what happens.
