I think it is more puerile than that, after all, the UN is about a dozen blocks south and several blocks east, so he could be closer easily. No, New York is the Capital of the World, and 57th Street is one of the prime locations in the city (Carnegie Hall, Russian Tea Room, Hard Rock Cafe, numerous boutiques). It is hard to be more high powered. One of the best neighborhoods in the city will suddenly become his, because one can hardly ignore a former president. I can just imagine him dropping by the Stage Deli, which is practically around the corner, for a nosh. Heads will turn, he will be king!

"Wonder who owns the NYC property????? Maybe they would like to make it a gift to him."

Agree wholeheartedly and we of course know there is prededence in the form of Reagan being gifted a $2.5M house in Bel Air, which makes Clinton's rent look cheap by today's terms...and I am SURE that the Clintons would be willing to pay it back WITH interest!!

KLP,

I think Neocon has the answer to "why NY?". Clinton is fool enough to think that he has "star quality", and wants to be near the action. I want to see his face when he realizes how fickle the public is. Out of power, out of mind!!
