Watson,

Californians are used to paying much more than other states. Our (very) modest rental in Mtn. View rents at a remarkable $3/sq ft./month. That is about 500% what you might find almost anywhere else in the country.

I just got my power bill here in Arizona and it's $67.03 for 1067 kWhs. Even in the summer it never got over $100.

Please don't anyone think of moving here though as it's already getting too crowded.

Hi TWY, OT RE: "If I had to pay what Californians will eventually have to pay"

It's not clear to me what Californians will eventually have to pay.

Here's a summary of the cost of electricity (you'll notice there was a sudden jump in 6/00):

4 (cents) (in 1999)
4 (Q1-00)
4 (5/00)
8 (6/00)
19 (7/00)
16 (8/00)
19 (9/00)
16 (10/00)
15 (11/00)
24 (12/00)
34 (1/01)

An increase of 9X's, from 4 cents to 34 cents, in 8 months. Sounds like a potentially good ROI for the companies that sell electricity to PG&E.

Regards,
Amy J
