Hi Choosie,

I'm also pleased about the 42 "no" votes on Ashcroft. A symbolic protest, but important. Ashcroft will be under intense scrutiny from all corners, as he should be, IMO.

I don't see how the intent is solely to encourage more private action and
giving in areas of need when the emphasis is placed on faith-based organizations with such fanfare. The intent
seems clear.


Indeed, the intent appears to be clear to me too. I applaud private charitable giving, religiously-based or not. I'm uncomfortable with the subtle messages about moral behavior that often come packaged with this kind of charity, however.
