Siemens didn't spend top dollar on companies that today can be bought on the cheap. How much those acquisitions of Cerent/Monterey CSCO did end of 1999 would cost today. CSCO burnt USD7billion. I don't hear anyone talking about that spending spree.
Look the result of the USD20billion LU spent on Ascend. It didn't save them.

Bay Networks could be bought for next to nothing today. NT paid USD9 billion. How much those Xylans costb ALA? How much it would cost today? How about FORE Marconi bought?

Conclusion: Al those acquisitions that ERICY and Siemens DIDN'T make, were very good!
