Never said there was no problem, or that it didn't exist. Always said they would fix it in time, but then "experts" would remind me of all the main frames, embedded systems, etc, etc, etc. out there, that it was impossible to fix all these systems in time. I would call into and correspond with radio talk shows and hosts, and tell people they should not over react to the doom and gloom being spread, and the radio host would not agree with me. They bought the doom and gloom bait.

You must have forgot all the doom and gloom talk on the TV, Radio, Newsprint and all over the Internet.

I tried to listen to all the shows and interviews, heard the scare tactics...I remember this one: "come to our seminar tonight, because Jan 1, 2000 all your mutual funds will be gone"

Where are most of the Y2K doom and gloom sites now?

404

According to the "experts" we were not suppose to go through 2000 without major problems. What about all the Y2K task forces cities set up, in undisclosed locations, some in bunkers, What happened? Nothing worth reporting.

What was the cost of these doom and gloom "experts" speaking lectures and reports?

In my opinion, it was the biggest NON-EVENT in the history of man.

PS
I never wrote computer programs, but most of Y2K doom and gloom experts did. I just assessed the situation with my eyes and ears wide open, listened to both sides of the coin, and a lot of research....made my call, and stuck to it.

I am/was/are a programer....
It was the biggest hype job of recent times.
There were concerns and things to deal with....but this is the end of the world as we know it got old.
My heartfelt view as I nurse-maided equipment that I knew to be OK...but had to satisfy management.

The elevator worked. My toaster worked. Everything worked....except my good humor.
Still a sore point.
