As usual you put your finger right on it. One of the most difficult things for a father or mother to teach a child IMHO is to get used to the feeling of being different than the herd, and to enjoy it rather than feel that it is a condemnation. You'll no doubt smile at my next comment...

I too have a good dose of that independence, and revel in the resistance it gives me to avoid becoming a trader (good or bad). I studied Morton Shulman book, "Anyone can be a millionaire" many years ago and adopted his Speculation technique, which makes me a bag holder in your terms. In many ways it simulates what your Father did. The idea is to figure out what the successful promoters are doing and do it too as a tag-along. For me the potential leverage is much more exciting (in spurts) than scalping a point or two from a tremendous amount of concentration and observation, and analysis of the charts.

As you say you always have to know what the others are thinking also. Takes all kinds!!! Don't be surprised if the CDNX comes back to life this year....the signs are there for those who can see them.

Amazing........

I always "marched to the beat of a different drummer". And I am closer to Trev's age group than yours. Strange to find kindred spirits here.
