How about if it's predictably going to die emaciated before the age of two or three with flies crawling in and out of its nose, too weak to brush them away, too weak to cry from the agony any more?

You don't have any children, do you? I can't imagine anyone who has a child writing

I meant the possiblity that the child might die in agony years later, is not enough to justify killing it now to stop the
possibility of its future agony.
