Decide what you think it will be and discount it to arrive at a net present value.

I think comparing INCY to ABM is ludicrous. What's the growth rate in the janitorial business?

Peter Suzman set me straight on INCY valuation. It isn't the patents; it's the contracts. It took me a while to understand that. Quite possibly, a patent on a gene won't be worth much in the future. But royalties on drugs developed using the INCY database could be enormous.

I got mauled some by having too many INCY shares this past Friday. And I've been mauled by it before. But I've become convinced that of the various genomics companies, it is the best bet.

Care to speculate about the value of a share of INCY in 5 years? It could be $0. But I think $250 is a more reasonable guess. Better yet, what are the odds of INCY closing at or above $250 at least once in the next 5 years? I'm betting they are pretty good.

In pure economic terms, all companies are service companies. Which makes the analogy useless. But you already knew that anyway, didn't you?...
