That's really interesting. You are quite an observer. I would have thought fat people would be the most avoided. Are your flights between cities where there are low populations of blacks?

I often fly SouthWest too, thanks for the tip. However, usually the flights I get on are totally full. Also, you never know, that black man might be a very interesting character. I sat opposite (in those two rows that face each other) an ex Houston Oiler line man (black, or African American, if you prefer) during one trip from Dallas to Houston. He took up a lot of space, but he had some very interesting stories.

JXM,

Unlike you, a rarely fly, which makes this story an interesting follow-up to yours.

In 1999, when I flew SouthWest from Cleveland to LasVegas, I was absolutely the last person on the plane. It was a full flight. (I was late or as I refer to it, on Jane time, because we got lost on the way to the airport!!) Anyway, full flight, last passenger to board. Guess where the one and only open seat was. Yes, you guessed it, isle seat next to a black man, on a flight primarily populated with white people. It was a pleasant enough flight. As a matter of fact, I got an email from him today...LOL
