Good post on FTTH, ftth. You noted:

"[Nothing like asking the 2 groups most likely to oppose it!]"

If 22 and 5 Mb/s asymmetrical is giving the other camps a fit, just think what 100 and 1000 Mb/s symmetrical will do for them! [ <--rare exclamation point ]

I suppose the obvious question is, which group would they have gone to that supports it?

100 Center Street is the old NY City Police Department HQ Building, I believe. Isn't this where Globix now has its super pop?

Recently I was asked to recommend a transmission system for another series called "The Street," that is being shot on a makeshift soundstage on a pier. The pier is part of a quasi-governmental agency program like the Port Authority and Metro Transportation Authorities. They don't seem to see the need for extending fiber out to their tenants. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop on this one. Like the Port Authority, this pier authority will probably seek some outrageous fee for the right of way, and then insist on sharing the revenues that are fostered by the build.

How did that Center Street piece find its way into your post, btw?
