well, consider this: we DO know what the capital structure of GE Capital is. it is so highly leveraged, that a default on 4,5% of its assets would wipe out its entire equity capital. and the defaults have already BEGUN (Montgomery Ward, obviously). it is easy to manage it well during the biggest economic and financial asset bubble in history...but is it equipped to deal with a big downturn? i don't think so....
