Well, I don't believe that God IS concerned with our mortal lives, and if He mends things, He must be very myopic, He misses so much, if He is there at all, a point on which He allows us all to stay uncertain for reasons best answered by Him if and when. But I REALLY don't believe that the Virgin Mary was going to brighten my little room one night. And it was that to which Ammo referred- the whole panoply of ritual and magical devices the Catholic Church used to keep us in line. Which really are the things I just LOVED about Catholicism growing up! Everything was all labelled and organized. Between the Church and my mother, I doubt I made a decision on my own until I was in college, when I changed majors on a weekly basis, in retrospect, probably because I COULD. Hey- I wrote a post and used the word Neandertal, which is how it's spelled in all the books I have read on the subject, and it showed up red- I changed it to Neanderthal, and it passed spelling muster. I looked in my AHD and it is Neanderthal. I am sure that the scientists are right, aren't you? So I;m left with one of those words I can't use anymore!!! Like forte. Which everyone mispronounces and if you say it correctly, they think YOU are stupid. So I always say, 'strong suit' instead. Junta is another. I'm glad you are feeling better. I'm sure it was the ten rosaries I said for you :)
