The problem with your statement is: "used to pay off the debt". You seriously can't think that the "nest featherers" in Washington would use the money to pay down the debt do you? When we had the surplus, Dems like Teddy Kennedy, Gephart and Jesse didn't want to pay down the debt...they wanted the money for more programs and entitlements.

This may be the news to you, but you are one of the rich. It was a news to me that the Clinton tax increase that was supposed to be only for the richest applied to just about every professional working couple.

But you can defeat this plan. You can fill out your taxes twice, once with the higher rates, then with the lower rates, and send the difference to the Federal account established for debt reduction.
