Jim,

I apologize for not sharing your cynicism. Unlike many in Washington, I don't see us as being the last generation of humans. I believe that we should leave a balanced budget and clean environment for our children.

There is absolutely no need for a tax cut for people making over $100K in this country. That group makes up the huge bulk of Bush's plan, and it is obscene. That money should be used to pay down the debt, which leads to lower interest payments and spending.

Jim, When we had the surplus, Dems like Teddy Kennedy, Gephart and Jesse didn't want to pay down the debt...they wanted the money for more programs and entitlements.

Bingo. The dems haven't had a lot of luck with their entitlement programs since they cut way back on welfare, so now they are trying to turn a tax cut into an entitlement. If they want another entitlement program, why not propose one. Does every bill coming out of Washington have to be a never ending entitlement.
