What kind of generator do you have? We have one that uses propane as a backup because the power can be out here for days in an ice storm, and regularly goes out for hours at a time (trees in storms and people hit poles on a regular basis here). It has been the greatest thing. We used to be on a well, so no power and no water either. One full week of that once is enough to realize a generator is good idea. In terms of the environment I don't know if it is good or not, though. Not because I'm uncertain, but I haven't ever looked into it.

I'd like to see everyone have a personal generator. In computer science we gave up mainframes (the analog of centralized power) 20 years ago. We've got to do the same with power generation IMO.

Now why didn't I think of that? I've already realized that telephone lines are not necessary for life. And I've never considered being anywhere near a gas line. So why would I need an electric line, depending, of course, on where I lived. It just never occurred to me before. Thanks for the insight.

We use to turn out heat off at night as well.

Last summer we had to install new furnace so we installed a programmable thermostat.
It's nice because it will heat up the house b4 you get up in the morning!!

It's also more efficient than the old one and the new furnace is more efficient as well.
We set it for 66 during the day. We use to keep it at 68.

Cosmicforce, we have to do something about energey, especially since we have had a cold snap
here!

Best Wishes,

Mephisto
