"I realize that this takes into account the cost of the portfolio which was not part of this contest."

But now it is?

Welcome to Florida, where the rules change after the vote is cast! :)

I realize that this takes into account the cost of the portfolio which was not part of this contest. I will be making that change for future contests

Do you live in Florida?

With the rule change AFTER the fact, the winner is now more a factor of luck than skill.

Why not just have everyone adjust the number of shares in their portfolios so that they have $10,000 in each stock at the price of the open?

Right now, we have 100 shares and the Purchase Price listed when we edit our portfolios. It would be an easy matter for us to divide $10,000 by the purchase price to get a new number of shares that would give us a contest that meant something.

Scott, does this mean you have changed your mind? Remember this answer you gave me: siliconinvestor.com
If you intend to use SI's calculation of overall total percentage then this contest is bogus.
