Ron, thanks for your quick response, which I read with interest. Let me ask you a couple of follow-up questions if I might. Why should the federal government, rather than state and local governments, pay to maintain our highways? Do you live in a City that has federally-funded mass transit, and if so, have you ever used it? Have any of your immediate familyy members suffered from cancer or AIDS? Did you or member of your immediate family ever receive federally guaranteed student loans? Have you ever lived in an area that received federal emergency assistance? What interest does someone in Iowa have in funding the US Coast Guard? Do you get any of your energy or water from a federally funded project? Do you support immediately bringing home the soldiers in Bosnia and Korea (and for that matter other Germany and other foreign locales?) There are actually a few more, but I gotta run. HAGO.
