No, I was thinking maybe there was a shoulder or a pulloff? If it's safe to pull onto a shoulder and it's obvious that the guy is agitated, what's the problem with giving him the right of way? I'm always supercourteous to truckers driving big rigs for a number of reasons. The most benevolent is that they only get paid when they finish the run, and they work long, hard hours, and it's a tough job. Another reason is that they are usually supercourteous themselves. Another reason is that those big trucks scare me.

In a number of places I've been it's considered good form to pull over onto the shoulder or a pulloff zone to let a faster vehicle pass you on a two lane highway - here in the rural parts of Virginia is one, also I've seen it done in the mountains in Oregon, and in Canada. I always pull over for a faster driver.

Dropping charges in return for testimony isn't what I would call an abuse of power unless the DA did it to make the trucker commit perjury. In a plea bargain you always give something - e.g., dope dealers agree to snitch on their buddies. What's the diff?
