Obviously on a personal level fired, laid off what is the difference? A rejection for any reason or under any guise is still a rejection.

I would agree that the perception of the term "laid off" has evolved. The term however still has a clear legal meaning. The world of difference I was referring to is the possible method(s) of recourse you may have at your disposal if you feel trampled by the process.

All my best to you Bob,

Rhona.

I have a feeling little thought went into letting SI Bob go.......kindergarden cop Jeff lives in Seattle so that is one reason...and then SI BoB was there longer so likely got higher pay or was in position for more options than his coworker Jeff........thats right a simple cost cutting action......certainly this was not done by anyone who understood what SI BoB meant to the SI community......now that management has seen the outpouring or good wishes and positive comments about SI Bob you might think they might actually say "hey you know we made a mistake...lets ask him back"........what they do now will say plenty about them.....if they were smart they would hurry as I have a feeling his services will not be available for long....

Bob did anyone ask you if you were willing to move to Seattle in the weeks leading up to your being how you say "sent to pasture" or "let go" or " laid off" but certainly not "fired".
