Tim, Planning ahead is fine. I have no problem with R+D, or in general thinking about using alternate energy sources. I have not problem with anyone choosing to use them (assuming they don't do so in a dangerous or destructive way), but I would have a problem with the government trying to mandate their use. If the Government had not mandated high mileage, low emissions automobiles 30 years ago, we would be in deep do-do now. Industry has no mechanism to regulate it's own behavior, if fixing that behavior costs money. The fix has to be applied equally to all competitors, and the only way to do that is through regulation.
