Could be, but the messages out of Dell have been less than absolute.

Patrick - It seems unlikely that the kind of press references - used for DELL insiders who don;t want to be named - would be used so freely if there were no substance. Given that DELL stock was likely to get hammered based on this, I share JRI's concern that management just had a hard time fessing up - or, more likely, their internal messaging was not complete and they want to be sure that the explanation for their first layoff gets correctly placed with employees. I guess the next few days will tell the tale.

I don't think the layoff itself is any big deal, but the response today, if misleading, would be bad.
