But, Doppler, BRK.A would not have to drop sharply for them to lose.

Let's say your JDSU, INTC, QCOM, and MSFT all started out at $100 (this is a ferinstance, I am simpifying and not using actual prices) and all doubled to $200. So, that's an $800 gain in those five.

If your 100 shares of BRK.A dropped by $1000, your portfolio would be negative.

That would be a loss of 1.45% in your BRK.A.

The performance of JDSU, INTC, QCOM, and MSFT are effectively irrelevant in this portfolio.
