<<<No one with a heart wishes for a recession. >>

the environmentalists do.

And Calif is overflowing with them. So now Calif is leading the country in getting what it wants.

Meanwhile, places like Chicago and Pittsburgh that never really caught the .com wave, are fine. They don't enjoy the wacky bubbles so much, but nor do they suffer much when the piper comes around to collect his wages, as he always does....

James,

I found many people that are living in California believe their energy problem is not just a problem for California. I do not believe anyone can really argue that the real cause of this problem was the poor manner in which energy was deregulated in CA. Therefore, business and residents did not pay enough for their energy to entice the contruction of more power plant and transmission infrastructure.

My area is dergulated too. We get to choose a power provider and we have GPU as the transmission provider. GPU is also a power provider but one may choose a competitor. The charges for transmissions are based on usage but the power portion of the bill is based on the providers cost for fuel to power their plants. Therefore, there are three new gas fired power plants being constructed even as I type in the surrounding 100 mil radius. I pay more than double what I paid last year for natural gas and about 55% more for electricity. In otherwords, the consumer and local business is paying their fair share to encourage the building of more power supply.

I don't want to hear from those living in CA who are still paying the same this year for their energy or close to the same that their problem is my problem. Everytime there is an earthquake out there the Federal Government declares the area disaster area and CA receives free Federal funds. My are has never ever been declared a Federal Distaster area and received federal funds.

It is time for the businesses and the residents of CA to poney up for the life style they have. Most that live there like the climate so one better be prepared to pay for that climate.
