Bill:

"HP and Carly made a huge error by making such a committment to the proven bad P-4 that their usual channels could/would not absorb them, and there they sit in Costco!! did you check them for spider webs to indicate they are settling in for a long stay?"

At least he's consistent...he did suggest that the K-mart Blue Light Celery specials would stem the erosion in INTC market share...He was about right about that, too, wasn't he???

Bill: So even at the discounters they remain unsold??

Ok people... enough is enough. While I admit that the entertainment value is quite good, it is getting rather ridiculous to see people interpret the number of boxes in stores.

AMD
few boxes --> they're selling like hot cakes! [e.g. they were all out of 1GHz Athlons! I saw the last one being sold!!!]
many boxes --> they're selling like hot cakes! [e.g. this store had almost solely AMD-based systems! Go AMD!!!]

Intel
few boxes --> they're not selling! [e.g. this store hardly had any P4s! Nobody wants them!]
many boxes --> they're not selling! [e.g. the P4 boxes were just gathering dust! AMD products were almost sold out! GO AMD!!!]

I'm pretty familiar with selling to Costco. In order to sell to them you have to agree to take back stock that doesn't sell after a certain number of days. If they don't move, Costco will send them back. I believe that most other larger wholesale houses and even Walmart reserve the right to return unsold merchandise and take it off the invoice.
