Of course that would have implications that are unpalatable, like maybe there is a God, and maybe we are responsible to Him. Perhaps it's easier to just subscribe to a philosophy of life that is both illogical and unlivable, rather than to acknowledge the obvious.

Are you suggesting a dichotomy with God on one side and unlivable/illogical on the other? If so, are you suggesting that the latter is the easier path?
