KG4,Re: Off Topic posts on JDSU SI thread. Some observations.

These observations where made before,

but you must have missed them, so we'll make them again.

JDSU does not live in a vacuum.

In spite of the fact that JDSU is a
bigger,
stronger and
more diversified company today compared to 1 year ago,
the price of the stock has gone from 152 to 37.

Doesn't that bother you?

Would you say that that is an important point that
somebody that bought at 152 would want to discuss?

I think so.

Which is why I think, boatloads of folks where discussing the election on this thread back in Nov. They felt that
that was an important thing.

Nobody complained.

So what changed now?

Maybe this:

So, I think it is perfectly reasonable to discuss an off
topic subject as long as
it is CLEARLY marked OFF TOPIC.

I would go as far as to recommend what I have been doing lately which is to mark an OFF Topic subject as follows:

name addressee****OFF TOPIC*****name of topic

for example,

To #18388 from KG4******OFF TOPIC*****Market Direction.

I think this is perfectly reasonable.

SI has a " view the next 10 messages button ".

You can easily then see 78 posts with 7 clicks,
by clicking your right mouse button
and opening the post on a new window.

The other option you have is to

use the ignore button and eliminate posters
you don't want to hear about

There is also a moderated thread for JDSU/SDLI on SI

Subject 50793

where people no longer, unlike before, discuss politics
and Clinton
,
( I wonder why myself, but that is another issue ).

These by the way are a higher quality of people who as their heading states

We no longer involve ourselves with " trading banter (and political rants) " like we did before ".
I would call this The Born Again JDSU/SDLI Evangelicals.
And truly, I must say, they no longer rant politically like before:

Sort of like the old "I am now holier than thou thing ",
" I have seen salvation and I no longer wish to talk to low
class folks like you... ".
Happens every Sunday in Church so there is nothing new here.

I am not sure they preach salvation but there are some good
posts there on JDSU and SDLI. You can visit there.

This way, I believe, you can be completely shielded
from what goes on around JDSU everyday, from
all the extraneous forces that are trying to stick it
to it, what with higher taxes, higher regulation, etc.
and you can just watch the company go up and down in the
Stock Chart but you will not know why,
and therefore you'll be spared any and all pain from 300% market
price fluctuations of JDSU.

cheers and good luck to you and thank you for your input,
