I'll admit it happens, that retailers have a glitch in their systems and fail to reorder. But Best Buy is a good retailer, and good retailers order stuff that is out of stock, because that means it's selling. And the same out of stock was true at Office Depot. I've worked with OD in the past, and they have an (almost) automatic replenishment system, I suspect Best Buy is the same.

To the current mass market retailers, out of stock is the ultimate sin. It's guaranteed lost sales, lower revenue, lower earning, customer dissatisfaction.

I would bet much better than even money the problem is with the manufacturer.
