SQSW reports:

AR balance is now $12.1 million. Sales for the last two quarters combined are $11.4 million. Sales for last three combined are $15.7, so very few of the "purchasers" of software are actually willing to pay for it.

Anyone care to comment of "Flip" and his prior career at Platinum and before? I believe he was at DBMS or something like that.

Cognos Inc, a maker of business intelligence software, said on Monday it will have lower fourth-quarter revenues due to a shortfall in its North American business...

``Early indications point to a shortfall in business intelligence license revenue in North America, where a number of customers did not conclude software purchases in response to the rapidly softening economy,'' Ron Zambonini, Cognos' chief executive, said in a statement.

I think this kind of thing will continue showing up throughout the sector for most of the rest of the year. IT budgets are trimmed down to the point of focusing mostly on "must haves" and stuff that directly saves money. It'll be a while before cool stuff like EIPs and even more useful tools like BI get major investment again.

Which is not good for any of the companies on this list, and especially those that have limited cash with which to grow, or those that are "pure plays" with no other established revenue streams.
