O/T - Switch Hitting

LOL! Yes, we were talking about stocks, but given the terms that were being thrown about and the fact that we are discussing this on the "Strictly Drilling" thread, I can see how you might have been confused. <gg>

O/T Switch hitting. Looking for a good time? <lol>

My previous attempts at shorting were inconclusive and nerve wracking like yours. One was very costly - I confidently shorted against the block on CSCO, "locking" in a profit. This is a very conservative way to short, like playing covered calls. Anyway, CSCO went up some more and I figured I'd take the profit on my long shares and cover on the sure thing pullback. That was just before CSCO went off on its multi month, take no prisoners rocket ride to the stars. Ouch. So don't do that!

But shorting against the block is a good way to practice your chops without risking the upside losses of naked shorts. Just my 2 cents.
