Well, well, well. There is someone else on this thread who seems to know a thing or two about A-net.

"LDT based on what I have heard/seen so far seems to be a variant of that spec. There also seems to be elements of IEEE1394 and Compaq's defunct ANET."

What kind of gate count would this require? I have always been curious if it could be a rational replacement for Rambus protocol...

Yeah, I know. Point to point. But it would be nice to have your bandwidth actually go up as you add memory.
