Saying that 'human life begins at conception" is a theological position. Pardon me, but Saying that human life begins at conception is not a theological position, it is a biological fact. The theological aspect comes into play when you try place a value on that human life. If having rights is a function of being human, then the unborn certainly qualify. "To accept the fact that after fertilization has taken place a new human has come into being is no longer a matter of taste or opinion. The human nature of the human being from conception to old age is not a metaphysical contention, it is plain experimental evidence.(Jermoe L. LeJeune, French Geneticist, testifying before a Senate subcommittee) A zygote is simply passing through a stage of human life, akin to passing through infancy, to childhood and beyond. It is not a "potential life" as you assert, or a potential Human, rather it is a Human life, with great potential I'll ask you the same question nobody else seems to want to address. Exactly when does the unborn child receive the designation of human being. If you are not sure, why would you not want to err on the side of life, rather than take the chance of killing an innocent child? Do you have Children? Did they only somehow become human after birth?
