Polaroid to Offer Biometric Identification's Software
with the PFS-100

Cambridge Mass. – February 15, 2001 -- Polaroid Corporation (NYSE: PRD) said its
Biometric Identification Systems business unit will offer a new patented fingerprint
algorithm from Biometric Identification Inc., (BII) of Sherman Oaks, California, with its
durable PFS-100 finger image scanner. The scanner is built into keyboards by
manufacturers or used as a stand-alone security device for network and physical access
control.

Philip J. Scarfo, Polaroid vice president/biometrics, said Polaroid will offer BII's
fingerprint extraction and matching software as a standard component of the software
developer's kit that ships with Polaroid's PFS-100 low-cost finger image scanner.

"We tested the BII fingerprint matching algorithm with our large databases of finger
images and found its performance is superior in some applications to traditional
minutiae-matching software. The BII algorithm is actually more tolerant of finger
placement than many minutiae-based systems. We want to give our customers the widest
range of choices as they integrate our PFS-100 finger scanner into their desktop and
e-commerce security applications. Our device is completely algorithm independent and
can support both minutia and non-minutia based algorithms," he said.

Julia Webb, Biometric Identification's Vice President of Marketing & Sales emphasized
that, "Polaroid's decision to license our algorithm is a significant validation of the benefits
of non-minutia based technology for commercial applications. We look forward to an
ongoing collaboration with Polaroid. Together we will create flexible and accurate
biometric solutions that simplify security.''

Polaroid currently produces driver licenses in 37 U.S. states and digital driver licenses in
states including California, Texas, Georgia and West Virginia. Recent contract awards
include Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Colorado. Internationally, Polaroid produces
identification documents for governments in more than 60 countries including Brazil, the
United Kingdom, the Philippines, Mexico, Russia and China. Polaroid systems create
some 300 million ID cards around the world each year.

Polaroid Corporation (www.polaroid.com), with annual sales of approximately $2 billion is
the worldwide leader in instant imaging. Polaroid supplies instant photographic cameras
and films; digital imaging hardware, software and media; secure identification systems;
sunglasses and polarizers to markets worldwide.

As previously announced on December 21, 2000, BII has agreed to be acquired by Mytec
Technologies Inc. The acquisition will be completed by way of a merger of BII with an
newly formed, wholly-owned subsidiary of Mytec.
