Neo, I, honestly, do not remember the Berrigans. I knew he was Catholic, and left wing, and anti-nuclear, but did not know about the sanctuary movement. Thanks for the info.

Neocom: the Berrigan involvement in "hiding illegal aliens" is not quite a definition of the "Sancuary movement." I believe the intention was to shield bona fide political refugees specifically. Now, of course, the definition of a political refugee is open to some interpretation. But given the history of South American death squads' broad definition of "political" to include women and children, students and adults with the most remote or no conceivable political allegiances, I suppose the definition is strictly in the eye of the beholder.
