"I'm no great fan of government, but I prefer it to rule by the armed mob." An armed mob burns itself out quickly, it requires food and sleep. Armed mobs tend to be replaced by new governments in the Anglo Saxon world at least.

In Algeria the population elected an armed mob. The government disallowed the election now armed mobs of these elected but not empowered people are traveling around the country slaughtering innocent people. I suppose if Algeria had a good constitution to fall back on the situation would be self-correcting over time.

Which government? What armed mob? Did you ever hear of the Boston tea party? All an armed mob wants to do is beat and burn and kill. The armed mob is reacting, something instigated their actions. And if the armed mob is throwing over some brutal regime I would endorse it.
