I may be wrong, but I seriously doubt that just traders can knock stock prices for a loop on a big volume day like today.

That raises an interesting question though ... assuming we could agree on a definition of trades vs investors, what percentage of transactions (or percentage of volume) is done by each type on a typical day both on the NYSE and the Nasdaq? I don't have a clue, myself.
