This revisionism based on micro examples befuddles me.

The people that trade here aren't chimps. Decisions to hold overnight are based on several factors. You win some and you lose some. It is a risk of holding something and getting whacked over the head with a negative NR or negative extraneous market factor, or getting a gap with an unforeseen good event. Some Dt's do and do very well, some DT's don't. You can get a pleasant surprise or an unpleasant one. Just because in the 1% of the time you get a release like NT's on Thursday doesn't make it "wrong", and people are "stupid" for doing it. That is the risk. We all know it and adjust trading strategies based on the environment. In the current environment I have held about 6 trades out of 60 since Jan 1/01 overnight. At the same point last year I held probably 55 out of 60. Not to say I am right or wrong on this, that's just the way I've been doing it.

I am wondering if you would have posted your blanket statement last week re: QLT when it had a 15 point gap up the morning of their positive release on the doubling of the market for their product.

Probably not, eh?

There were a few people here that held that overnight, then. They didnt "gloat" or try to look like a know-it-all, posting a link for all to see of their "brilliance".

They just considered themselves "lucky" that, altho they held for a chart/TA/fundamental reason, they got an unexpected bonus, and then moved on to the days trading.
