Your post doesn't make sense to me. The stage alerts are based on percentages of available capacity so a 10% reduction during any stage 3 alert makes it go away. In fact a 2% reduction in usage during a stage 3 alert makes it go away.

Your argument comparing gross generating ability against actual demand is correct and demonstrates another incredibly stupid action by the California government (and the EPA). They force capacity to stay offline because the plants have exhausted their pollution credits. MUCH better to have billions in economic losses due to blackouts. Is it any wonder high tech has started expansions and moves to outside the state?

It IS all a game, a very stupid game being controlled by very stupid people.

Not a direct response, but seemed to fit in...........

Local small time fuel switching probably going on elsewhere.
Friend has nursery with greenhouses heated with NG, is now
supplementing to much higher extent with Kerosene spaceheaters than usual........... they are usually in reserve for very cold nights or in case of NG furnace problem. He also says that decorative plants in grocery store at about twice the price of last year........... Know that's not a big sign of inflation, but sure affects him a lot on what he can charge this year and will have to charge with rising NG bills for flats of flowers that he's growing now. He has 3 or 4 small greenhouses, is cutting back to
one or two to heat at this time when usually has at least 3 heated to grow............ not counting heating to melt off heavy snow to protect structure.

again, just a small drop in NG draw but there's gotta be lotsa small guys out there burning wood or Kerosene to
keep the NG bill down a little

weatherwise down in single digits tonight, drove to
Erie today for Whadya Know show and about froze walking
to theatre, windchills around zero
