ecommerceman,

Yes, there of course will be no tears on your pillow - it's not coming from your pocket, now is it? In fact, all of what you propose carries the old tired theme of "We're doing this for your own good - but it needn't apply to us". The favorite refrain of big government democrats.

Tell us all: Are you in line for a hefty whack or two via the inheritance taxes? How much of your estate will you be arranging for handover upon your death? In even thousands, please.

Do you want less than your very best for your children? You're happy to have the government decide these things for you?

Not me, brother. I don't mind safe streets, I don't mind paying reasonable taxes, but I take exception at the insidious encroachment of taxes on my life. It never gets to be less unless everybody hollers.

By the way, "taxation without representation" was first coined when we told King George to jam it.

Still waiting to hear your thoughts on e-taxes.

What happened to the idea that tax should be collected to pay for needed, justifiable programs rather than just because some poor slob outside of DC has some money that the government hasn't stolen yet? I'm referring to
Aggie--well, there won't be any tears on my pillow if you have to pay a modest chunk of money in the estate tax for wealth that you inherited based upon the work of others who came before you (not work you did yourself), just as their won't be any because you have to pay taxes here because you enjoy the privilege of U.S. citizenship.
So what government department do you work in?
If you don't work for the government, you undoubtedly suck at one of the the federal tits.

As for "taxation without representation," I take it that phrase means you support statehood for the residents of the District of Columbia, who have exactly zero members in the House or the Senate who can vote their interests, and whose number of souls exceeds that of several states....
With an attitude like yours I hope this never changes. BTW, the Constitution (that inconvenient thing) provides for representation for STATES. So when was DC admitted?
